Wikingertage (Viking Days!)

The story begins in the train station. Notice
that there is no train at the platform. This
is because there is a problem with the train
and you have to take the bus. If you could
understand German you would have heard the
announcement and you would not be here taking
a picture of an empty platform.

Viking days in Schleswig is a 3 day
festival celebrating viking culture.
Which means, basically, that people
dress up like vikings and other
people pay money to see them.

Here is a viking talking to some tourists.
The vikings stay in the tents you see
in the background. The vikings are
kept docile by a rope encircling their
compound. (in the vikings hand.)

The vikings have even captured some of
the local women and children.

The vikings also make handy crafts which they sell.
This old viking was selling some beautiful bone
handled knives.

The vikings are allowed to
brew their own beer.
That's some in the bucket
in the back. If you are
nice to them, they might
let you have a taste.

Also, there was a GREAT band there playing Cajon music!
But the German People are made of stone and will not dance,
no matter how fun the music is. Also, they cannot clap on
the backbeat.
