For those of you who thought I was being
too hard on the Germans with my comments
about keeping off the grass, here is some
proof. This sign is on the lawn just across
from the clinic where I work. While it does
not exactly say "Keep off the grass", it
does suggest the same thing.

In Germany (and much of Europe) they have a
really cool chocolate candy called "Kinder
Überraschung" which means "Kid's Surprise".
It's a chocolate egg with a toy inside
you have to assemble yourself. Very Cool!

Windsurfing is very popular on the Baltic Sea.
I went windsurfing with some people from work
and had a great time. This is Nick, from our
lab, he's a fantastic windsurfer. Thanks for
taking us windsurfing Nick!

You're out of luck if your phone breaks in
Germany. I went to Deutsche Telecom when my
phone broke after 3 days. Instead of giving
me a new one, they said that I would have to
wait while they sent me a new on in the mail!
It took 4 days, but at least I didn't have
to pay to send the old one back.

This is a nice shot in Lubeck, near Kiel.
You might think it is a florist shop or
a boutique from the window display. But,
no, it's an undertakers!

One thing that is very different from the
United States, is the unisex restrooms.
This is the door to the bathroom just down
the hall from my office. It says "H D", which
stands for "Herren und Damen" or "Gentlemen
and Ladies". Other signs for the restroom
might say "WC" for water closet, or "00" for
I don't know what. It's all very confusing.
