Bosjokloster Castle and Gardens, Sweden

On Sunday we visited Bosjokloster Castle, which
didn't look like much of a castle at all.
This is because it used to be a nunnery before
it was a castle.

This is the church, which is actually bigger
than the 'castle'. ^_^ It was founded in 1080.

The coolest thing was the graveyard. It was
full of these circular headstones. Have you
ever seen anything like it? Some were dated
in the 1800's - the rest we could not read.

The Germans are famous for being really
uptight about walking on the grass. The
Sweds had to put this sign up to prevent
the Germans from yelling at the people
sitting on the grass.

NEVER walk on the grass in Germany.

See this wagon wheel stuck on the top of
the chimney? It's there so that storks will
build a nest on it. Honest.

Today, the castle is still private property,
owned by the Bonde family.
They like modern art, which
constrasts with the historic
architecture.
